written while watching the Perseid meteor shower...
08-13 (meteor shower)
I catch the glint of God’s needle
Sewing a bejeweled black satin
To the fleecy fabric of my existence
A kimono of karma I sleep in
Mars dancing in my watery eyes
With its light arcing into eights
A stitch in time streaking across the sky
Following the pattern of perfect design
It steals my breath when I see it
Then disappears into a question
All light doomed to a dark future
The fireflies dying all around me
Mate beneath the meteor shower
Shining in their final moments like a mirror
Beckoning the new age to follow
To dance to the riddle of ages
Beneath the same stars as forever
I am baptized in a shower from heaven
Born again and again until I don’t
Fading into the sky of other beings
A background for the wonder of future dreamers
Twinkling in the sky like a question
